NAPCOR's Blog PET Insider

by Laura Stewart, NAPCOR Communications Director

Welcome to the first post of NAPCOR’s blog – the PET Insider – giving our readers inside access to all things PET!

For those who may not know, NAPCOR is the National Association for PET Container Resources, the trade association for the PET Container Industry in North America. Our members represent the entire PET supply chain and include bottle manufacturers, recycled PET producers (reclaimers), suppliers of PET precursors, sheet and thermoform manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, as well as suppliers of colorants, molds, lab testing facilities and other PET industry products and services.

The PET Insider will cover a range of topics related to the PET molecule, from packaging to equipment to reclamation. We will also discuss trends related to recycled PET content and other activity within the industry.

We at NAPCOR feel that Earth Day 2018 is a fitting occasion for the launch of our new blog. NAPCOR members and staff just convened this past week for our Spring 2018 Member Meeting, where recycling issues and environmental responsibility were prominent topics on the agenda – a testament to this industry’s commitment to ensuring that PET continues to earn its reputation as a sustainable packaging choice. To us and our members, every day is Earth Day. By choosing PET, you’ve chosen the most widely recycled plastic package in the world. Whether you’re a brand owner that selected PET for your package container, or a consumer who chooses to recycle that PET bottle… we all have a significant part to do each and every day.

So, we ask you to subscribe, and check back often for unique perspectives on the dynamic world of PET packaging. In 2017, NAPCOR celebrated its 30thanniversary as an organization. Throughout the year, as we reflected on all the accomplishments to date, we continually found ourselves saying, “there is more work to do.” After two days of productive discussion with our members this week it’s clear that this is still the case, and this Earth Day we renew our commitment to solidify PET as the sustainable material of choice for packaging.
