PetStar Hosts NAPCOR Annual Meeting in Mexico

Toluca, Mexico – November 16, 2017, PetStar hosted the National Association for PET Container Resources (NAPCOR) Annual Meeting at PetStar’s headquarters in Toluca, Mexico. The event was held during the first day of the two-day meeting, and was attended by nearly 50 business leaders from throughout North America.

Meeting attendees toured PetStar’s state-of-the-art collection and recycling facilities, and the company’s museum dedicated to encouraging environmental awareness by the recycling of PET bottles. In addition to touring Mexico’s largest PET recycling plant and one of the world’s largest food grade PET recyclers, attendees observed first-hand how committed the company is to collect and reclaim 175 million pounds of PET bottles in a sustainable manner. This commitment provides a livelihood to almost 24,000 waste pickers that are supported by its activity.

“As the first member to join from Mexico, we were very happy to be given the opportunity to host this event on behalf of NAPCOR,” said Jaime Camara, PetStar’s CEO. “Additionally, we were pleased to showcase progress in achievement of our 2020 environmental goal to neutralize our carbon and water foot prints, thus achieving zero waste.”

Included in the fall meeting was a presentation from ECOCE, a civil non-profit environmental association, created and sponsored by the food and beverage industry. NAPCOR member and equipment supplier AMUT sponsored one of the networking opportunities, which included leaders representing all facets of the PET industry.

“We were extremely happy with how the day turned out and appreciate PetStar opening their doors to host this event,” said Tom Busard, NAPCOR Chairman and Chief Procurement Officer for Plastipak Packaging. “We strive to provide members with opportunities to learn from each other for the betterment of the PET industry.”
